Connecting to Shared Network Drives (Outside People's Wi-Fi)

To securely access shared network drives when not on the company's Wi-Fi, use the Banyan app. The app icon is a light blue cloud.

Important Notes:

  • The secure connection (VPN/Service Tunnel) expires after 8 hours for security.
  • If you need longer access, simply reconnect—no re-registration required.
  • If the app is not already installed on your device, do not download it from third-party sites. Contact IT for the correct installation method .

First-Time Setup (If the App Is Not Installed)

  1. Contact IT to request installation of the Banyan on your device.
    • Provide them with your device name (You can get by clicking the windows logo and type "view your PC name").
    • IT will install/register it for you (often via automated/zero-touch deployment or a secure link).
  2. Once installed and confirmed by IT, open the Banyan app.
  3. Click Register (or "Get Started"/"Register Device").
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Your browser will open to a Microsoft sign-in page (using your company credentials).
  6. Sign in with your company Microsoft account.
  7. The app should confirm success (e.g., "Connected" or "Registration Complete").
  8. You're set! Access network drives normally (e.g., via File Explorer or mapped drives like \server\share).

For Returning Users (Reconnecting)

  1. Open the Banyan app.
  2. Click Login (or "Connect"/"Sign In").
  3. Your browser may open briefly for authentication (often automatic if your session is active).
  4. Once confirmed, the connection is live—you can access network drives.

Troubleshooting Tips:

  • App not installed or login fails → Reach out to IT support immediately.
  • Connection drops after 8 hours → Repeat the "Returning Users" steps.
  • Can't see drives after connecting? Verify drive mappings or ask IT to check your permissions
